A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers which we put on your computer whilst you are browsing. These cookies allow us to distinguish you from other users of our website, which helps us to provide you with a better experience during your visit and also allows us to improve our websites. The cookies that we use are 'analytical' cookies. They allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and see how visitors interact with the site. This enables us to ensure that users are finding the information that they are looking for more effectively.
Alternatively, you may wish to visit www.aboutcookies.org which contains comprehensive information on how to do this on a wide variety of browsers. You will also find details on how to delete cookies from your computer as well as more general information about cookies. For information on how to do this on the browser of your mobile phone you will need to refer to your handset manual.
Please be aware that restricting cookies may impact on the functionality of the site and also your user experience.
Think Postgrad Ltd uses a number of suppliers who also set cookies on the this website on our behalf in order to deliver the services that they are providing. If you would like more information about the cookies used by these suppliers, as well as information on how to opt-out, please see below.

2. Information we collect about users
We will log and record all logins to the site and store the information both in order to prevent fraud, and for reasons of functionality, to allow us to identify any technical problems.
We also collect and store all information relating to any enquiries to funding providers you may make via the site mechanism. Most of this information will be easily available to you via your My Accountpage, although records may be archived off-site after a period of time. You may also choose to add data about yourself to improve your use of the sites, particularly on MyPostgradApps.com from October 2012. Adding data in this way is optional and will be under your full control: you will be able to edit or remove the information at any time from your Account page. We stipulate that any information you do provide about yourself must be truthful at all times.
We will also collect and store information relating to courses and course comparisons you may choose to save on to your My Account page on MastersCompare.co.uk. This will then enable you to access that course information quickly and easily from your account page whenever you are logged in. We may also provide that information, annonymously, and not connected in any way to your personal details or anything that can identify you, to Universities whose courses you save or you include in a course comparison.
We will also collect and store information relating to the PG Application Records and Open Day records that you create on MyPostgradApps.com so that you can access these records easily from your account page. Employees of Online Resource Pages will only view your account page and the details you have stored there on the rare occasions it may be necessary to do so if you have a query or problem with the account. We may also provide selected information about the application and open day records created, annonymously and not connected in any way to your personal details or anything that can identify you, to Universities whose courses or open days you have created records for. We will never provide to any third party any notes you have made or additional content that you have added to the website, including CVs, personal statements, or any other personal details, without specifically obtaining your permission in advance.
Funding Providers and other advertisers: when you register and use the site we will collect information about you and your organisation for administrative purposes. If you provide funding or study opportunities that are published on the site, any information about yourself or colleagues eg name and contact information that will be visible on the public side of the site will be clearly identified in advance. We will also record and store information on logins, purchases of advertisement and other packages or services via the site for administrative purposes. We will not pass on your details, or any details of your transactions with PostgraduateStudentshps.co.uk, MastersCompare.co.uk or MyPostgradApps.com, unless required to do so by law.
Students and funding providers: You may also choose to leave comments, using your username, on the public side of the sites (PostgraduateStudentships.co.uk and MastersCompare.co.uk), as contributions to forums and other online debates or chats. These will be archived and comments you have used may be used for marketing purposes. You are responsible for the information you choose to communicate via the public side of the site.
General use of the sites (PostgraduateStudentships.co.uk, MastersCompare.co.uk and MyPostgradApps.com):
We may also record and store other general information about how registered and other users of the sites use the services we provide, for example pages visited, referring urls, search terms etc. This will help us to develop the site in accordance with the needs and preferences of our customers. We may sometimes share this general information on how this site is used with our advertisers, without reference to specific individuals and where relevant, to ensure we provide better services for our customers. We record and store this information for statistical purposes without any references to specific individuals.
If you send us correspondence, either electronically, or by mail, or contact us in any other way, we may keep records of these contacts in a file specific to you. In the same way, we may keep records of any contacts with us that refer to you made by other users of the site.
3. How we use your information
We may use the information in the files that we keep to identify and solve technical and other problems and enforce our Terms and Conditions. Your personally identifiable information will be stored and processed on computers in the United Kingdom.
We may use the information you give us, and that we gather from your activities on the site, to send you information on new services offered by ourselves. Sometimes we send carefully targeted offers to selected groups of customers who have indicated that they are happy to receive this information: when we do this, we do not give those businesses your contact details. You can change your mind about receiving such offers at any time, and notify us by changing your preferences on your My Account page.
We will not give out any personally identifying information about you to any third party without your permission, other than to comply with any necessary legal requirements or legitimate requirements of any law enforcement agency. We maintain physical and electronic safeguards, and have procedures in place to ensure that all personally identifiable information about you is kept securely and confidentially.
4. Maintaining Your Own Privacy
Users choose a username and password which give access to the services we provide. You are known by your username to other users of our websites, except where individual funding provider names are given on the public side of the sites. We therefore advise you to ensure that your username does not immediately identify you as an individual, or provide others with an easy means of identifying or contacting you eg we suggest you do not use your email address as your username. Use and disclosure of your password and username is entirely at your discretion, and you accept legal responsibility for all activities carried out on and off the website in relation to your username and password.
If you know or suspect that your password has become known to another person, you must inform us immediately. You remain liable for any activities carried out using your username and/or password.
If you are using a computer that can be used by others (eg in a University or other public place) you should always remember to Log Out at the end of every session, to ensure that nobody else can continue using your username and password. It is your responsibility to ensure that your username and password are not passed on, or cannot be used, in this way.
5. Maintaining the privacy of other users
You may receive information on other users when you participate in some of the services provided by PostgraduateStudentships co.uk and MasterCompare.co.uk. You may not disclose this information to any third party unless it is specifically related to the individuals enquiry, or application, or for admissions purposes, without the express permission of the other party.
6. Accessing and Changing Information we hold about you
We comply fully with the requirements of the Data Protection Act. You have easy access to the information stored in your My Account page, and can change personalised information registered there with us. In addition, you may request copies of all the information we hold on you in accordance with the provisions of the Act, and we will provide it, for a fee of £10, within the stipulated period.
7. Use of Email Tools
You may not use the Email This Page to a Friend service to send spam or any other content that would violate our Terms and Conditions. We do not permanently store either the message or the email address sent using any of these tools, and we do not use the email address for anything other than to send that particular email. We do not store, rent, sell or exchange those email addresses. You are solely responsible for the content of any email you may send in this way, and the views expressed within it are entirely your own responsibility.
8. Changes to this Policy
Any changes to this policy will be announced 30 days before coming into operation, and will be displayed on our website. They will be emailed to you if you have selected this service on your My Account page.
