Content champ with a backdrop of the Lakes
At Think Postgrad, I’m a Campaign and Content Coordinator. The role is a mix of marketing, social media and contributing to the reliable running of the service. I enjoy the fact that every day is different, and I get to play a key part in interaction with customers, who are a mixture of specialist media agencies and university student recruitment teams.
I knew that the education sector was where I wanted to be. Think Postgrad has led the field for many years in creating tailored packages for the HE sector, so it was a natural choice. I work closely with the Account Managers on the publishing of content and reporting of client campaigns as they are executed. No two days are ever the same and I am immersed day-to-day in strategically amplifying the universities that we work with.
Prior to joining Think Postgrad (I had been a teacher for many years), I had years of experience in a range of positions both in-house and agency-side including paid and organic social media marketing, e-marketing, website, and content marketing.
I was lucky enough to have the unique opportunity to work with a century old, family run cinema. It was a beautiful building but due to its age it needed lots of repairs and upgrading and fairly urgently. Through e-marketing and social media I worked on raising the profile of the cinema and through a series of campaigns the money was raised quickly to make the upgrades. It was proof that the right marketing can make a campaign gain traction quickly.
After freelancing throughout most of the pandemic, I felt the time was right to go back to working in-house but living rurally it is a long commute to get to an office in the nearest town. Working remotely has lots of benefits for me, not least being in my own home, as I am fortunate enough to live in the beautiful Lake District. I can be strolling by the shoreline 10 minutes after closing my down my laptop.
Despite being remote, we often get together as a team. In May we met in Winchcombe in the Cotswolds, where I met the team ‘face to face’ for the first time. Being together meant I was offered some invaluable training. We then went to view the spectacle that is Giffords Circus in the grounds of Sudeley Castle.
Working with the HE community over the past 6 months has reignited my passion for the sector and working with the leading practitioners in the business means that I am constantly learning and evolving my practices. Whilst we may be a remote company, there is always someone to bounce ideas off and to gain knowledge from.
