Course Description

Get qualified as a teacher while you teach on this apprenticeship scheme. Developed with local council support, this course offers a direct route to qualified teacher status for teachers in Portsmouth, Hampshire and West Sussex.

You can follow an apprenticeship to become a teacher of Modern Foreign Languages, Maths, English, Geography, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology. You’ll need to have an unqualified teacher role in a Secondary school, or an offer of one, for the duration of your apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

Qualifications or experience

  • A good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. A minimum of 2:1 is desirable although applicants with other qualifications or valuable experience will also be considered.
  • All shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview. All offers are subject to Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance and Occupational Health clearance.

English language requirements

  • Applicants whose first language is not English, and who do not have GCSE English language at grade C (Grade 4) or above, require English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 with no component less than 6.0.
